Living in Mauritius
Living in Mauritius is like taking a long beach holiday. Wonderful weather awaits you here. The summers (November to May) are humid, with temperatures around 29ºC (84ºF). The winter months (June to September) are usually cooler, with temperatures around 22ºC (72ºF). There is excellent diving in Mauritius, and golf is popular, with some championship courses. Other activities include trekking, cycling, mountain climbing and even caving for the more adventurous. Originally from India, France, China and Africa, Mauritians are genuinely friendly and laid-back. The cuisine consists of a mix of seafood, Indian curry, Chinese cuisine and Creole delicacies.
Being close to Africa, you may hop over to South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania or Zambia for a weekend excursion. The island is well-connected with convenient flights from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Local transportation is inexpensive, and car rental (right-hand driving) is reasonably priced. Great international schools, fine hospitals, well-stocked supermarkets and nice accommodation make expatriate living in Mauritius an unforgettable experience.
